Welcome, singers! We are so delighted to have you joining us in our Songbook South Singer troupe. "Hooray for Hollywood" will be the opening number for our "non-holiday" shows and Vocal Competitions. We are leaving it up for now because you will need this in the future. Please scroll on down for your holiday selections.
Please download the sheet music and the corresponding audio tracks to help you with learning your part in the chorus. If you are a mezzo/belter, you will be most comfortable with singing the Alto line; select your parts carefully, and if you have been assigned a part to sing, it is your job to make sure you have learned and memorized that specific part before the first rehearsal in a couple of weeks.
Hopefully, everyone has experience reading choral octavos. If there is only one part present, all the voices are unison. If there is a three-way split, as there is in the women's parts, Desc/Sop I will take the top note, Sop II takes the middle note, and altos take the bottom note. All the "helper" tracks have the parts played on the piano for you, both with the demo and with the accompaniment. Tracks with only the accompaniment and all of the voices played are provided for you to test yourself on your parts, prior to our first rehearsal.
We will not have that many rehearsals to perfect our parts. We expect you to have your music memorized and ready for the first rehearsal; we will choose the smaller solos within this piece at that time. We will send you a rehearsal schedule in the coming days. Meanwhile, start learning your part to the song. The harder you work, the better the end result!
